Form Shooting Drills

Form Shooting (Snap to Self)

Start a step back from the center of the basket.  Try to keep your shoulders point straight to the basket. Put the ball in your shooting hand and create a L shape with your arm.  Next make sure your hand is back with your fingers pointed straight behind you or down slightly farther.  Keep the ball balanced on the finger portion of your hand.  Bring your arm and hand in an upwards motion while trying to have the ball rotate as many times as possible and land in the same place you shot it from.

Form Shooting Mid Range

Start 3 steps back from the center of the basket.  Try to keep your shoulders point straight to the basket. Put the ball in your shooting hand and create a L shape with your arm.  Next make sure your hand is back with your fingers pointed straight behind you.  Keep the ball balanced on the finger portion of your hand.  Bring your arm and hand in an upwards motion while shooting the ball high over the rim.  Try to have the ball go straight to the middle of the basket and finish with your hand down with your fingers pointed towards the floor

Form Shooting 1-2 Step

Focus on stepping into your shot correctly.  If you are a righty step and catch the basketball while your left foot is hitting the ground and follow suite with your right foot.  If you are lefty catch the basketball with your right foot hitting the ground and follow with your left foot.  Once you do this slowly go up while still working on your form and shoot the basketball.

Form Shooting Combined

Combination of all form shooting.  Each time you make a couple shots in a row that you feel good about step back to a farther range and repeat.

Form Shooting (Close Range)

Start a step back from the center of the basket.  Try to keep your shoulders point straight to the basket. Put the ball in your shooting hand and create a L shape with your arm.  Next make sure your hand is back with your fingers pointed straight behind you or slightly lower.  Keep the ball balanced on the finger portion of your hand.  Bring your arm and hand in an upwards motion while shooting the ball high over the rim.  Try to have the ball go straight to the middle of the basket and finish with your hand down with your fingers pointed towards the floor

Form Shooting Foul Deep

Start 10 steps back from the center of the basket.  Try to keep your shoulders point straight to the basket. Put the ball in your shooting hand and create a L shape with your arm.  Next make sure your hand is back with your fingers pointed straight behind you.  Keep the ball balanced on the finger portion of your hand.  Bring your arm and hand in an upwards motion while shooting the ball high over the rim.  Try to have the ball go straight to the middle of the basket and finish with your hand down with your fingers pointed towards the floor

Form Shooting Game Speed 1-2 step

Focus on stepping into your shot correctly.  If you are a righty step and catch the basketball while your left foot is hitting the ground and follow suite with your right foot.  If you are lefty catch the basketball with your right foot hitting the ground and follow with your left foot.  Once you have practiced this before speed up to working on it at game speed.

Form Shooting Curl in Footwork

Start on the baseline with the basketball.  Toss the ball out in front of you and towards the center line of the court.  As you step in to catch the basketball have your inside foot step and catch the ball simultaneously, after that bring your outside foot around so the your toes are both facing the basket.  Then lift up and shoot.  Once you make a couple of the same distance shot in a row, move back and repeat.
